Obituary of Thelma Louise Kemp
Mrs. Thelma Louise Kemp, age 90 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Kemp will be conducted on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 2:00pm in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Hobart Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery.
She was born March 7, 1932, in Obion County, TN; the daughter of the late Leonard & Irma (Taylor) Graves. She was an excellent homemaker, cook and seamstress. She and her late husband of 73 years, Hoyt Kemp, instilled in their children a Faith in God, as she was a lifelong member of Rutherford Cumberland Presbyterian Church; she taught Sunday School and loved singing in the choir, along with singing solo’s. She was passionately called “Me-Maw” by her grandkids.
Thelma is survived by four children, Sandra Magee, Steve Kemp (Wanda), Jeff Kemp (Lisa), Libby Faulkner (Tim); eight grandchildren, Keith Magee (Rita), Tammy Hurst (Brian), Melanie Kemp, Jonathan Kemp (Heather), Mallory Baker (Daniel), Matt Kemp (Leigh), Hunter Kemp, Morgan Arnett (Jacob); sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hoyt Kemp; siblings, Ralph Graves, Florence McCollum, George Graves, Inez Finney, Tom Graves, Betty Davis, Sammy Graves, Shelia Snead; and son-in-law, Royce Magee.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 2:00pm on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home.
