William Powell

Mr. William Joseph “Billy” Powell, age 85, of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on December 14, 2014, at his daughter’s home in Pinson, Tennessee. Funeral services for Mr. Powell will be conducted on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home of Dyer with Bro. Steve Skelton officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery of Dyer. Mr. Powell was born July 25, 1929, in Dyer, Tennessee; the son of the late Erby and Lattie Lee Green Powell. After serving in the US Army, he worked and retired from Goodyear Tire Manufacturing. Mr. Powell was Baptist by faith and a Mason. Mr. Powell is survived by children, Jason Powell, Greg Powell, Joe Powell, William Earl Powell, Donna Estes, JoEllen Lyons, Katrina Douhski, Dawn Tubbs, Danny Powell, Randy Powell, and Denise Miller; brothers, Raymond, Bobby, and Kenneth Powell; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Powell; parents; brothers, Connie, Aubrey Lee, and Erby Earl Powell, Jr.; and grandson, Brandon Barron. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, December 17. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is especially honored to serve the family of veteran William Joseph “Billy” Powell.
