Walter Boyett

July 20, 1924 — January 12, 2016

Walter Quinton Boyett, 91, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday January 12, 2016. He spent a lifetime of service for his farm, his community, and his church. Mr. Boyett was a keen, streamlined farmer and abundantly produced beef cattle, soybeans, wheat, and corn. He had an infinite passion to finish every project he started as a farmer. He enjoyed having company with many and always regaled others with memories of his childhood as he continued his father’s legacy as a farm owner. He worked the land all his life and held his fellow agriculturalists in the highest regard. He was substantially active as a member of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church, as well as many years with The Kenton Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was charitable with the Kenton School system and was always certain to finish any business plan that was proposed. Mr. Boyett was born on July 20, 1924 in Rutherford, TN to Walter Lee and Zeta (Montgomery) Boyett. Survivors are: his sister, Faye (Boyett) Bryant of Somerville; his son and daughter-in-law; Gary and Molly (Tucker) Boyett of Kenton, TN; his daughter and son-in-law Betty (Boyett) and Bruce Trout of Kenton, TN; his three grandchildren: Corri Boyett of Jackson, TN; Mandy (Boyett) Norman and her husband Chris Norman of Yorkville, TN; Duncan Trout of Knoxville, TN; and three great-grandchildren: Alex Mann, Collin Norman, and Brody Norman all of Yorkville, TN. Mr. Boyett was preceded in death by his wife, Norene (Wheatley) Boyett on December 9, 2015. He was also preceded by his siblings: Lynn Boyett, Marjorie (Boyett) Roffe, Mina (Boyett) Savage; Twila (Boyett) Walker; Antoinette (Boyett) Percifull; and Blanche (Boyett) Roberts. The family will be receiving visitors at Karnes & Sons Funeral Home in Kenton, TN from 11am to 1pm on Saturday January 16, 2016. Dr. Bobby Williams will be reverently officiating. Service will be immediately following visitation. Pallbearers are John Burpo, Pete Burpo, Brent Baier, Kenneth Roberts, Gary Houston, Stacy Wheatley, Ronnie Percifull, and Leland Davis. Graveside service will be at Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton, TN.
