Waite Hoyt Kemp

Mr. Waite Hoyt Kemp, age 92 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at AHC West Tennessee Transitional Care in Jackson. Funeral services for Mr. Kemp will be conducted on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2:00pm in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Hobart Walker officiating, and Jeff Kemp speaking. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery.

He was born in Gibson County, Tennessee on August 26, 1929; the son of the late Rosco & Camilla Tyson Kemp. Mr. Kemp was a devoted Christian, serving as an Elder for many years at Rutherford Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he was a member since 1964. He was co-owner and operator of Hester Drugs with 40+ years before his retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Kemp; children, Sandra Magee, Steve Kemp (Wanda), Jeff Kemp (Lisa), Libby Faulkner (Tim); brother, Harold Kemp (Ann); eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosco & Camilla Kemp; brothers, Wayne Gable, Johnson Kemp; sisters, Lita Perryman, Oneita Barron, Helen Coble, Patsy Smith; and son-in-law, Royce Magee.

Pallbearers will be Keith Magee, Jonathan Kemp, Matthew Kemp, Chandler Maynard, Nick Kemp, Tyler Smith, Cole Magee. Honorary pallbearers, Jim Turner, Bill Hester, Lee Barner, Diego Vasi, and Billy Hime.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 2:00pm on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Waite Hoyt Kemp.
