Sue Buchanan

Sue Timbes Buchanan, age 87, of Kenton, TN passed away from this world into the arms of Jesus on October 4, 2020, at her home with her loving family around her.  Sue was born July 22, 1933, in Calhoun City, MS, the daughter of Hammond Timbes and Ruby Hamby Timbes. She grew up in Brownsville, TN, and married William Harold Buchanan on Dec. 31, 1950.  She and Harold resided in the Mason Hall community until her passing.

Sue retired from First State Bank in Kenton in 1995 after 13 years of service.  Prior to that she worked as an educational aid at Kenton School.  Sue was a sixty-year member of the Mason Hall Chapter #395 Order of the Eastern Star.  She served as Grand Adah of Tennessee in 2006.  Sue was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church where she had taught both children and adult Sunday school classes.  She took pride in preparing her lessons each week.

In addition to her husband, Sue is survived by three daughters, Kay (Dennis) Cooper of Mason Hall; Jill (Tony) Smith of Newbern; and Jan (Keith) Cardwell of Kenton.  “Meme” leaves her memory with seven grandchildren, Laura Cooper of Jackson, WY; Ashlee (Zeb) Hall of Friendship, TN; Blake (Bandana) Smith of Friendship, TN; Allison (Brandon) Neal of Obion, TN; Brittany (Will) Simmons of Kenton, TN; KJ and Kylie Sue Cardwell of Kenton, TN.  The family would also like to recognize Pam Milligan Skaggs, her devoted caregiver and friend.

Her pride and joy were ten great-grandchildren, Wade & Jessie Cate Hall, Jocelynn, Madilynn, Analee, & Isaiah Neal, Colt & Wesson Smith, and Reagan Simmons.  Meme was awaiting the arrival of William Rhett Simmons.

The family requests donations be made to the Union Grove Cemetery Fund in lieu of flowers.

Her service will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Union Grove United Methodist Church.  Visitation begins at 12:00 pm with the funeral at 2:00 pm.  Interment will follow in the Union Grove Cemetery.  The family requires that masks & social distancing be observed to protect the health of Harold and family.
