Stephen Thomas Toombs III

Mr. Stephen Thomas Toombs III, age 68 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Wednesday, May 22, 204, at Milan General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Toombs will be conducted on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 3PM in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Kylan Mann officiating. Interment will follow in China Grove Church Cemetery. 

He was born June 9, 1955, in Trenton, TN; the son of the late Stephen Thomas & Gladys Faye (Martin) Toombs Jr. Stephen retired from Max Trans in Humboldt as a truck driver and was a member of Central Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Toombs; two children, Stephen Mann Toombs (Stephanie), April Toombs Reece (Andy); seven grandchildren, Lainey Toombs, Easton Adams, Stephen Toombs Jr., Stella Toombs, Steely Toombs, Taylor Reece, Anna Reece; and great-grandson, Hendrix Toombs. He was preceded in death by sister, Patricia Grissom; and brother, Larry Toombs. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 12PM – 3PM on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Stephen Thomas Toombs III.
