Sarah Hamilton Falls died April 10, 2012 in Katy, Texas, but lived most of her life in Memphis. Born Sarah Katherine Hamilton to William and Katherine Hamilton of Yorkville, Tennessee on February 25, 1922, she was the youngest of six sisters.
Sarah attended Yorkville High School and starred in basketball, being named to an All-District team in 1938. After her graduation, she moved to Memphis, where she was a long time member of Central Church and most recently, Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Germantown. Sarah was a devout Christian, and the beloved mother of two sons, four grandchildren, and one great grandson. After becoming a single parent, Sarah raised her children, maintained a career, and operated her own business. After retirement, she traveled throughout Europe. Sarah was a kind, unselfish individual, enjoying a keen sense of humor. She sought to instill strong Christian values in her children and used the civil rights movement during the 1960’s as a backdrop to teach her sons the importance of showing respect to all individuals, regardless of race, color, or creed.
She is survived by sons, Marc Hamilton Folladori and wife Mary, of Houston, Texas, and Joseph Bernard Folladori III and wife Linda, of Ponte Vedra, Florida; grandchildren, Jason Folladori and wife Ashley and their son Jay Denzel, Lindsey Folladori, Joseph Folladori, Kate Folladori and husband Mohamad Rifai; nieces Lynda Raiford of Memphis, Kay Black and husband John of Germantown, Barbara Phillips and husband Richard of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and nephew William Strong and wife Susan of Germantown.
Sarah is preceded in death by her mother and father; her loving older sisters: Mae Hamilton, Laverne Murphy, Buna Woodward, Louise Strong and Wilma Mullins; and her niece Dianne Mullins.
Sarah will be buried with her family in the Yorkville Cemetery on April 28. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made in her name to Yorkville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 17 Newbern Highway, Yorkville, Tennessee, 38389.
