Sara Ann Abbott

Mrs. Sara Ann Hurt Abbott, age 87 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at home. Funeral services for Mrs. Abbott will be conducted on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 11:00am in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Marlon Stephens and Bro. Sammy Dowland officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery.

She was born November 8, 1934, in Mason Hall, TN; the daughter of the late Joe Raines & Mary L. Jessup Hurt. She worked as the City Recorder for the Town of Rutherford for 33 years until her retirement and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was active for many years in North-Gibson Relay for Life Events, Davy Crockett Days Festivals and Rutherford Cemetery Society.

She is survived by three children, Don Abbott (Donna) of Dyer, Danise Hazlewood (Tim) of Martin, Alan Abbott (Tracy) of Rutherford; brother, Jim Hurt; five grandchildren, Jacob Abbott (Rachel), Logan Abbott (Chasity), Victoria Abbott, Faith Abbott, Maddie Bitter (Danny); and five great grandchildren, Jaxon Abbott, Chandler Abbott, Mason Abbott, Cooper Abbott, and Briggs Abbott. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dan Bell Abbott; and siblings, Joe Hurt Jr., Louise Petty, Robert Curtis Hurt, and George Hurt.

The family will receive friends from 5:oopm – 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Sara Ann Hurt Abbott.
