Robert Brown Alford

Robert Brown Alford, 82, of Newbern, TN, passed away peacefully November 28, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin “Pap” Rice Alford and Myrtle Edna Haley Alford.  He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Hazel June Ross Alford; children, Robert Keith Alford (Tina), Kevin Bryant Alford (Rachael), Kimberly Dawn Alford; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and his sister, Ruby Ballard.

Robert was a true storyteller of days gone by growing up in Tennessee. His ability to tell a story and make you laugh was a true enjoyment of his life. Another great enjoyment of his life was music, Jerry Lee Lewis in particular.

He held those around him to only one simple standard: that they be as good as their word, often advising his children to mean what they say or remain silent.

He worked hard and he played hard. And that, at the end of the day, just may be the best measure of a life well-lived.

He is greatly missed by those who truly loved him.

Private graveside services will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Dyer, TN on December 1, 2022, at 2pm.  At this holiday season, the family asks that you remember the elderly and those in need in your community and in lieu of flowers please consider donating to a charity that serves those in the most need.
