Mr. Richard Davis Skiles Jr., age 68 of Kenton, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Skiles will be conducted on Monday, September 27, 2021, at 10:00 am in the chapel of Kenton United Methodist Church with Bro. John Varden & Bro. Bo McEwen officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Richard was born September 5, 1953, in Humboldt, TN; the son of the late Richard Davis & Virginia Dillaha Skiles Sr. Richard loved his community so much. He, along with several business friends, spearheaded to keep Kenton School. After several years of tirelessly working, a new K-4 was built and continues to serve the Kenton community. He was the current secretary/treasurer, and so immensely proud of this school. He was currently serving on the Board of Trustees as secretary/treasurer of the Gibson County Electric Membership Cooperation; chairman of the Alcohol Beverage Commission, serving the West Tennessee area; was an avid University of Tennessee fan -GO VOLS!; but Richards favorite hobby was being at Kenton Drugs helping people. He was co-owner for 43 years with Jim Turner & Cara Marvin. He was constantly learning new techniques. He loved his customers, many who were dear friends. Richard loved his family dearly. More than anything else, he had a deep faith in God. He served all areas of the Kenton United Methodist Church where he currently was the Adult Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Jones Skiles; three children, Patrick Skiles (Jennifer), Brandon Skiles (Angela), Katherine McDonald (Steve); and six grandchildren, Penelope Skiles, Reece Skiles, Virginia McDonald, Tanner Foy, Ean Foy, and Ada Foy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and beloved uncle, Raymond Skiles.
Visitation with family & friends will be from 4:00pm – 7:00pm on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the Kenton United Methodist Church. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Richard Davis Skiles Jr.
