Paul Gathings

Mr. Paul R. Gathings, age 89, of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on March 1, 2015, at the Dyer Nursing Home. Funeral services for Mr. Gathings will be conducted on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home of Dyer with Lynn Tharpe officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery of Dyer. Mr. Gathings was born April 2, 1925, in Gibson County, Tennessee; the son of the late Claude and Effie Smith Gathings. He retired from Brown Shoe Company of Dyer. Mr. Gathings is survived by his wife, Helen Gathings; daughters, Janet Simpson of Dyersburg, Lisa Leke of Trenton, Diane Pierce of Yorkville; sons, Nelson Grimes of Yorkville, and Danny Gathings of Dyer; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mae Franks, Modena Hayes, Alma Jo Lowrance, George Gathings, B. D. Gathings, William Gathings, and Jeff Gathings; and one grandchild, Nicky Pierce.
