Omecia Merrick

Mrs. Omecia Christine Merrick, age 80, died at her home in Dyer on May 14, 2013. Services will be held at Karnes & Son Funeral Home of Kenton, Thursday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Mickey Hanks and Bro. Steve Skelton officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery of Kenton. Mrs. Merrick was born in Yorkville, Tennessee and lived most of her life in Kenton. She was a member of Laneview Baptist Church, but in later years attended Bells Chapel. Mrs. Merrick leaves behind three children; Christy Skelton and husband Steve of Dyer, with children Krisha, Amber, and Christopher; Denise Freeman and husband Paul of Bartlett, with children Serena and Candice; David Merrick and wife Amy with child Kaci of Kenton; a sister, Doodle (Avonia) Schoolfield of Kenton and a brother, Terry Ashmore of Martin; she also leaves nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Carmon, her parents, Leroy and Christine Ashmore, her son, Thomas Merrick, sisters Oguyn Ashmore and Jackie Pfefferle, half-sister, Onez Eddlemon Bell and half-brothers, Gilford and Grady Ashmore The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Omecia Christine Merrick.
