Olean Mercer

Mrs. Olean H. Mercer, age 92 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Dyer Nursing Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Mercer will be conducted on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Hamlin officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery. She was born April 1, 1925 in Linden, TN; the daughter of the late Jadie and Oma Dabbs Hickerson. She was a homemaker, and member of Antioch Methodist Church in Bradford. She is survived by three children, Mary Duncan, Arlene Pierce, and Jerry Mercer (Margie); three sisters, Lottie Mathis, Burnice Mercer, and Mary Dean Marlin; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings, Hettie Churchwell, Pauline Dunn, and Melvin Hickerson. The family will receive friends from 11:00-2:00 pm on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Rutherford Chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home.
