Mary Newmon

Visitation services for Mrs. Mary Anne Newmon will be from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, at Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Kenton, Tennessee, with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22 at the funeral home. Mrs. Newmon passed away peacefully at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee, where she was recovering from a stroke. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Newmon was born and raised in Columbus, Mississippi. Later she married and moved to Kenton, Tennessee where she worked at the First State Bank many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kenton for some fifty years. Mrs. Newmon was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Andrew F. Newmon, parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Thetford, Sr., sisters, Francis Lindseth and Lillian Long; and brother, J. W. Thetford, Jr. Mrs. Newman is survived by her daughter, Ellen Smith of Paris, her son James Newmon and wife Debbie of Jackson, along with grandchildren John David Smith, Doug Smith, Carla Newmon-Smith, Drew Newmon, and Hannah Newmon, and also seven great-grandchildren.
