Carbondale - Margaret (Margie) Collins died in her sleep Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, from complications following a stem-cell transplant which had cured her leukemia.
She was born on April 14th, 1947, in Long Branch, New Jersey, the daughter of Dorothy V. and Joseph M. Corvino.
Margie is survived by her husband, Kenny Collins; her son, George Collins and daughter-in-law Bidisha Banerjee; her mother; and her brother Joseph M. Corvino and his wife Carolyn.
She was a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Virginia and Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. She taught at the Fort Knox High School and then for over thirty years at Carbondale's Presbyterian Pre-School, Lakeland School, and Parrish School. A lifelong actor, she counted among her fondest memories her many performances for the Stage Company.
Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m., at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale on Sunday, September 20, 2015 with a brief service beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made in her name to the Hope Lodge Center, 4215 Lindell Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63108.
