Cissy Halford, age 75, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at her home in Dyer, Tennessee.
She was born on February 11, 1938 in Dyer, Tennessee to Sidney and Mary Barton. She was a lifelong resident of Dyer and graduated from Dyer High School in 1956. Keeping with the Eagle tradition, she was the secretary at Dyer School for over 20 years. Fondly known to many as “Miss Cissy”, she touched many young lives in a special way.
Cissy married James Halford in 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi. They were happily married for 40 years.
Cissy loved Dyer and enjoyed being an active member of the community. She also enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her family.
Cissy was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Mary Barton; her husband, James Halford; and her brother, Bob Barton.
Cissy is survived by her beloved companion of 15 years, John Hayes; daughter, Stephanie Leach of Memphis Tennessee; son, Franklin Halford of Dyer, Tennessee; son, Todd Halford of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Emily (David) Johnson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Nick (Telicia) Leach of Medina, Tennessee; Brandon Halford and Nathan Halford of Dyer Tennessee; great-grandson, Hayden McKee of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
A visitation to celebrate her life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Dyer, Tennessee on November 6 from 5:00-9:00 pm
