Lavera Lynn Winters

LaVera Lynn Winters, age 84 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on December 6, 2020. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 3:00 pm at North Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Kenton, TN.

LaVera was born on August  3, 1936, in Union City, Tennessee to Edward and Vera Lynn. She married the love of her life, Jimmy Winters on July 21, 1954, and proudly supported him during his service in the United States Navy.  She worked as an accountant for Thompson and McConnell CPA Accounting Firm for 17 years until her partial retirement in 1991 and continued serving her customers during tax season until 2013. She and Jimmy would later move to the country on the outskirts of Dyer, where they resided for almost 60 years.  LaVera shared the love of horses, trail riding and showing, with Jimmy.

After being diagnosed with cancer, her courage shined brighter than ever before. She faced every challenge with a smile and a witty sense of humor. Her influence will remain forever in every life she touched.

LaVera is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Winters; daughter, Cheryl Winters Bryan (Bo); granddaughter, Rachel Bryan; brother, Wilton Lynn; and her special beloved Tiffany Harris, Kasey Harris (Courtney), Lydia and Baker.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Vera Lynn; sons, David Gene Winters, and Jimmy Ireton Winters Jr.; and three sisters.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the North Union Church Cemetery Fund, Kenton, Tennessee or Amedisys (Hospice) Foundation, 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge LA 70816.

Private family visitation will be held December 9, 2020 from 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm at North Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with a private family service following at 2:30 pm.  Mask and social distancing are required due to COVID-19 restrictions mandated.
