John William Wells Jr.

Mr. John William Wells Jr., age 86 of Kenton, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Tennessee State Veterans Home Humboldt. Funeral services for Mr. Wells Jr. will be conducted on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Kenton Chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Kenton, TN.

He was born August 14, 1933 in Shelby County; son of the late John William "JW" Wells Sr. and the late Mildred Louise (Gray) Midyett. He was a member of the Kenton United Methodist Church.  Mr. Wells retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard after 30 years with the rank of Master Sergeant; retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 25 years;  was a member of the Volunteer Corp. of the Tennessee Jaycees; member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Retired Enlisted Association, and the National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons.

He is survived by two children, Jeff Wells (Shelly), Nick Wells (Ann); brother in law, Kyle Bugg; and one grandson, Jon Garrett Wells. He was preceded in death by his father, John William "J.W." Wells Sr.; mother, Mildred Louise Gray Midyett; sister, Bettye Bugg; and aunt, Sarah Wilborn.

Visitation with the family of Mr. John William Wells Jr. will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Karnes & Son Funeral Home - Kenton Chapel. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. John William Wells Jr..
