John Waymond Thompson

John “Johnny” Waymond Thompson, age 71 of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Milan General Hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be conducted on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 2:00pm in the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Garland officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

Johnny was born August 21, 1951, in Gibson County, TN; the son of the late Judson & Jettie (Grissom) Thompson. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber with 36 years of service, along with being a union member with the United Steelworkers of America. Johnny attended Mt. Olive Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Gwen (Alford) Thompson; three children, Jason Thompson, Marcie Watson, Jeff Thompson; three siblings, Joe Raymond Thompson, Pat Wilkerson, Brenda Sims; four grandchildren, Olivia Thompson, Brittney Thompson, Caitlin Needham, Jordan Watson; and one great-grandson, Jameson Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers are Stan Sims, Donald Hawkins, Seth Lindsey, Tommy Alford, Ricky Lazarini, and Bill Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm – 2:00pm on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. John “Johnny” Waymond Thompson.
