Mr. Jimmy Ray Long, age 79 of Kenton, Tennessee, passed away from this life on February 8, 2017, at home with his loving family. Funeral services for Mr. Long will be conducted on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Kenton with Bro. Hoyt Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton, Tennessee.
Jimmy Ray Long was born July 18, 1937 in Bristow, Oklahoma; the son of the late Samuel Dewey and Cynthia Johnson Long. Mr. Long was a retired Electronics Instructor with Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Newbern. He served his country with the US Army. Military honors will be observed.
Mr. Long is survived by his daughter, Adrian Eddlemon and husband Chris; his son, Jimmy Ray Long Jr.; four grandchildren, Lauren Conner, Austin Eddlemon and wife Felicia, Taylor Rae Eddlemon, and Emily Long; five great grandchildren, Bryson Conner, Channing Rae Alexander, Harper Dianne Eddlemon, Liam Christopher Bane, Leighton Maddox Bane; one sister, Helen Childress; sister in law, Alice Faye Wyrick and husband Billy; one nephew, Steven Randall Wyrick and wife Deana; two great nephews, Garrison Wyrick, and Mason Wyrick . Mr. Long was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Tucker Long; his parents, Samuel Dewey and Cynthia Long; two brothers, James D. Long, and Harold W. Long; and nephew, William Shane Wyrick.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm -8:00pm on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Karnes and Son Funeral Home in Kenton.
