Jessie Lee West

Dyer – Jessie Lee West, 95, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Dyer Nursing Home.  Jessie Lee was born December 16, 1924, and was raised in Medina, Tennessee where she attended Medina School through the 12th grade.  She was a member of the Lady Hornets basketball team in the 1930’s.  In 1942 she married the love of her life, W.A. West, just before he left to serve in World War II in the US Navy.  Jessie Lee made a lifetime of loving others with her loving smile, making friends with all she encountered.  She also had a soft spot in her heart for all of God’s animals.  Jessie Lee worked at Dyer and Trenton Ben Franklin stores.  She also worked at the Dyer Garment Factory.  Her first love was God.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior as a young teenager at a revival in Medina, Tennessee.  Jessie Lee had a special love for her family.  Although her memory faded, she never stopped talking about her loved ones.  She was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Florence and Warner Barnes; her husband, W.A. West; sister, Jean Kolwyck; and brother, Billy Barnes.  She is survived by her sons, Ronnie (Nancy) West and Jimmy (Janet) West of Dyer, TN; grandchildren, Rhonda (Wyman) Branson, Brent (Jennifer) West, Becky (Chip) Ditto, Beth (Daniel) Tillman; great grandchildren, Caleb Branson, Weston Branson, Corbin (Carli) Branson, Olivia Davis, Chase (Sarah) Horner, Cassie Horner, Samuel Tillman, Ella Tillman; and one great-great grandson, Cooper Branson.

Our family appreciates the loving care of all the staff at the Dyer Nursing Home.

Due to Covid-19, a graveside service will be held at the Oakwood Cemetery in Dyer, TN on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 3:00 pm for family and friends.  Brother Randy Mutter will officiate.

 The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to the First Methodist Church, 189 North Main Street, Dyer, TN 38330.
