Jerry Smith

Bro. Jerry W. Smith of Jackson, TN went to be with his Savior and Lord on Saturday, April 7, 2018. He was born December 10, 1937 to Joe H. and Birdie Smith, and grew up in Kenton, TN. He retired from Kellwood Company in 2001, and returned to the ministry he loved, as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Rutherford. Bro. Jerry, as he was affectionately known, was pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church-Greenfield, Oak Grove Baptist Church-Milan, Northside Baptist Church-Milan, and Meridian Baptist Church-Jackson in his early ministry. Bro. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years Patsy Kemp Smith in 2010; great grandchild, Camryn Jo Scoggins; and siblings Laverne Barton, Lonnie Smith, Tom Smith, Estelle Mann, Robert Smith, Jay Smith, James Smith and Ross Smith. He is survived by his daughters, Beverly Dodd and husband Danny, and Teresa Smith; grandchildren, Luke Scoggins, Lance Scoggins and Kara Dodd; five great grandchildren, Jace, Jordan, Cayson, Lucas and Emma, all of Jackson, TN; wife, Patricia Hurt Smith of Kenton, TN and her family. Services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Karnes & Son Funeral Home-Rutherford, TN, with visitation Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family would like to thank the Kirkland Cancer Center, Hospice of West TN, and Ms. Martha Tisdale of Home Instead for their care.
