James Howington

Mr. James Douglas Howington, age 66 of Gibson, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at NHC in Milan. Funeral services for Mr. Howington will be conducted on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 1:00pm in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Gibson Co. Memory Gardens, in Gibson, TN. He was born January 12, 1951 in Martin, TN; the son of the late Robert Glen Howington of Paragould, Ark., and Nancy Abbott Hixson of Memphis, TN. He was a police officer for the cities of Bradford and Sharon; a driver for McCartney Trucking; and a driver for Milan Trucking Co., before retiring. He attended Bradford Public Schools, graduating in May 1969, also attended Tennessee Law Enforcement Academy in 2001. His pastime interest was hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Donna A. Howington of Gibson, TN; one daughter, Jennifer McGaughy (Keith) of Bradford, TN; two step-daughters, Angie Tennison (Brian) of Saltillo, MS, and Cynthia Austin (Joe) of Tupelo, MS; six step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Hixson and Robert Hixson, both of Memphis, and Jim Howington of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Jean Kruse (Carl) of Henning, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, James & Lillian Abbott of Bradford, TN. The family will receive friends from 11:00am-1:00pm on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. James Douglas Howington.
