Ira Curtis Halford

Curtis Halford, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dedicated public servant, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on March 27, 1943, in Union City, Tennessee, Curtis was a lifelong resident of the state he loved and served with honor.

Curtis’ passion for his community led him to serve the people of Tennessee for 14 years in the Tennessee House of Representatives. Elected in 2008, he worked tirelessly to advocate for his constituents, earning the respect of both his colleagues and the communities he represented. His commitment to public service and dedication to improving the lives of those in Tennessee marked his legacy as a leader who worked with integrity and compassion.

Beyond his political career, Curtis was a cherished member of his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. Curtis was a devoted father to Lori and Brad, and a proud grandfather to Noah, Kate, Charlotte, Jeremiah and Titus and great grandfather to Asher. His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.

In addition to his family, Curtis leaves behind countless friends, colleagues, and community members who were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and commitment to making Tennessee a better place. He will be remembered not only for his political contributions but also for his warm and generous spirit.

Visitation will be held at Dyer Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 11am to 1pm, with a memorial service to follow.
