Helen Louise McCurdy

Helen Louise Baggett McCurdy was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 29, 2023, at her home in Dyer. Celebration of Life and Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 3PM, at Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Dyer, TN. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.  

Helen was born May 19, 1933, in Powhatan, Arkansas, to Harvey Sylvester & America Louise (Young) Baggett. Helen’s memory and legacy is carried on by her son, David (Kathy) McCurdy; daughter, Kim (Mike) Stephenson; grandchildren, Kevin McCurdy, Brandon McCurdy, Casey McCurdy, Beth Stephenson Litton, Zoe McCurdy, Ian McCurdy; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma (Baggett) Kent of Florida, and Marie (Baggett) Henry of Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael McCurdy; brothers, Roy Baggett, John Baggett, Paul Baggett; and sister, Pat (Baggett) McGuire.  

Helen’s life was marked by a deep love of family for those who called her mother, granny, granny H, grandmother, sister, friend, and her devoted dedication to her Savior Jesus.  

To all who knew Helen, she was kind and had a sincere soul who radiated God’s love and peace. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but they take great joy in knowing that Helen’s soul and spirit are now at rest and that her warm, gentle smile will be there to greet them when they join her with Jesus. She was a faithful member of Dyer First United Methodist Church.  

The pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin McCurdy, Brandon McCurdy, Casey McCurdy, Ian McCurdy; and family friends, Terry Denton, and Jason Nicholson.  

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the Dyer First United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1PM until the time of service on Tuesday. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Helen Louise McCurdy.
