Helen Garrett

Mrs. Helen Gray Huey Garrett, age 91 of Kenton, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Friday, June 12, 2015, with her family around her. Funeral services for Mrs. Garrett will be conducted on Tuesday, June 16 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home of Kenton with Jon Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Kenton, Tennessee. Mrs. Garrett was born October 17, 1923, in Kenton, Tennessee; the daughter of the late William J. and Stella Gray Huey. She was a loving Mother, housewife and homemaker who worked along the side of her husband, the late Mose Garrett with their farming operation. She was a member of the Kenton Church of Christ. Mrs. Garrett is survived by two daughters, Regena Hixson and husband Dennis of Murfreesboro; Jean Miller of Kenton; five grandchildren, Brett Hixson of Murfreesboro; Shane Hixson of Smryna; Kristi Graves and husband Mike of Murfreesboro; Pam Whitlow and husband Robert of Kenton; and Robert Miller II and wife Jennifer of Little Rock, Arkansas; eight great-grandchildren, Orion Fox and wife Bree of Olathe, Kansas; Bryan Fox and wife Tara of Little Rock; Brittney Hixson of Smryna; Colby Hixson of Smryna; Mike Fox of Murfreesboro; and Hannah, Hailey and Hayden of Kenton, Rowan Miller of Little Rock, Arkansas; and three great-great grandchildren, Serenity Fox of Murfreesboro; Peyton Fox of Olathe, Kansas; and Preslee Gentry of Smryna; one brother, McKinley Huey and one sister, Ann Hardy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Mose Garrett, brother, James Rayburn Huey, and one sister, Maureen Bennett. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Monday, June 15. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Helen Gray Huey Garrett.
