Harry M. King, age 94, passed away at NHC Healthcare, Milan, TN on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 5 at 10 a.m. at Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Jay Lockhart of Tyler, TX officiating, with Wilford Mobley giving the Eulogy. Burial will be in Cool Springs Cemetery.
Mr. King was born near the Bells Chapel community, to the late Ben and Jessie King. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Benson, Woodrow and Carlyle and one sister, Lora Louise Sturdivant and in January 2011, one of his twin daughters, Eyvonne Crowder.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mayme Lucille, and they were married for 76 years. He is survived by a daughter, Mynonne Tate (Lyle) of Dyer, TN; son-in-law, Dr. Jack Crowder, Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Ken D. Tate, Memphis; Jon M. Tate (Amy), Nashville; Timothy Crowder (Becca), Durham, NC; Erin Lackey (Kip), Asheville, NC and five great-grandchildren; Eleanor Louise Tate, Hoyt and Audrey Crowder, Jackson and Cooper Lackey.
Mr. King served as an elder for Lemalsamac Church of Christ at Churchton. He had been a member of the Advisory Board at Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, TN.
Friends and family may visit with the family from 5 pm to 8 pm, Monday, February 4 at Karnes & Son Funeral Home, U.S. 45 W, Rutherford, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Harry and Lucille King Scholarship Fund at Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, TN 38340.
