Gerald Schaeffer

Mr. Gerald Len Schaeffer, born October 1, 1932, in Ballard County, Kentucky to Frederick Schaeffer and Bethel Wimberly Schaeffer Rucker, passed from this life February 28, 2015. He was married for 39 years to Pat Schaeffer, who survives. Visitation for Mr. Schaeffer will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015, in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home of Kenton. His mother, father, and brother, James preceded him in death. He had four daughters, Virginia Schaeffer, Angela Chang, Janet Schaeffer, and Rebecca Phelps. His beloved step-son, Brad Russom, daughter-in-law, Ladona Russom, and much loved grandson, Ryan Russom are left to remember the love he shared with them. Gerald served in the Korean War as a medic. His trade in life was in the field of tool and die. He was the former superintendent of Brown Shoe Kenton Mold Shop and later worked at Plastech. He was a former Kenton alderman. Gerald loved life and had a good sense of humor. He was a gentle man who cared for others and will be missed by his community.
