Evelyn Porter

Mrs. Evelyn Porter, age 92 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Porter will be conducted on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 12:00 pm in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Carroll and Bro. Eddie Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery. She was born April 16, 1926 in Dyersburg, Tennessee; the daughter of the late J. D. and Fannie McKenzie McFarland. She was a Post Mistress for the Rutherford Post Office for 22 years and a former employee of Kellwood Company in Rutherford. Mrs. Porter was also a 20 year volunteer of Dyer Nursing Home and received the “Volunteer of the Year” award. She was a member of Old Bethlehem Baptist Church in Rutherford. Mrs. Porter is survived by two daughters, Linda Rogers and Pattye Knox (Joe); three grandchildren, Jody Knox, Jason Knox and Karla Garner; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Walter Porter, Jr. and her parents. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018.
