Eva Jean Jackson

June 6, 1931 — September 7, 2024

Jackson

Mrs. Eva Jean Jackson, age 93 of Jackson, Tennessee, passed away from this life on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at The Meadows of Jackson. Funeral services for Mrs. Jackson will be conducted on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 3PM in the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Barry Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery.

She was raised in a farm family of eight brothers and sisters in the Bradford area. The family attended Blues Chapel Baptist Church, where Eva made her profession of faith in Christ. It was common in her family to use both the first and middle names, so she was often called Eva Jean by her siblings. Eva fell in love and married John Vee Scott Jr from Dyer, Tennessee. They traveled to Corinth, Mississippi and where united in marriage on February 28, 1948. She was a Scott who married a Scott, but no connection has ever been found between the two-family trees. J.V. and Eva made their home in the Currie community outside of Dyer. The first house they built was across from the old Currie Union school building and just up the road from the Sims Country Store. Eva joined Good Hope Methodist where J.V. had been brought up, which the family attended regularly as often as the church doors were open. She worked her entire working career of 40 years at the Brown Shoe Company in Dyer. Eva loved to cook big meals with her fried chicken being legendary, and having family and friends over to her home. Sitting down for a game of Rook with Idell and Woodrow Greene or visiting with Joe and Betty Warmath happened on a regular basis. She also had no choice but to go with the family on many fishing expeditions to Kentucky lake since J.V. was a crappie fishing fanatic.

J. V. died suddenly on Easter weekend in 1990. A few years later she married Paul Jackson from Humboldt. After Paul suffered a stroke, they moved to Trenton, to live on Shady Lane Street. Paul died in October of 2005. After taking a bad fall in her home, Eva moved to the Harlan Morris building in Trenton. The last couple of years she lived at The Meadows in Jackson. A special thank you is due, Advance Home Care and Caris Healthcare for their support of Eva for the last months of her life.

She is survived by two sons, Barry (Teresa) Scott, Steve (Robin) Scott; sister, Arlou McIntosh who resides in Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Jonathan (Rachel) Scott, Hope Scott (Aaron) Newton, Noah Scott, Alicia Scott (Caleb) Whear, Aaron (Julia) Scott, Isaiah Scott, Stephen Scott, Gabriel Scott; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover & Lockie Scott; first husband, John Vee Scott Jr.; her second husband, Paul Elbert Jackson; two sisters and four brothers: Christine Scott Guy, J. L. Scott, Caldwell Scott, Rozell Scott, Arris Scott and Jewel Scott Hensley.

As an alternative to flowers the family is requesting memorials be made to the Gideons or the Hope Recovery Center in Medon, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 2PM-3PM on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in the Dyer chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Eva Jean Jackson.
