Dr. Garry Shawn Burkacki entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his home in Kenton, TN.
Garry was born March 8, 1961, in Mt. Clemens, MI, to Eugene Anthony Burkacki and Beverly Jean (Higgins) Burkacki. He grew up in Richmond, Michigan and graduated from Richmond High School in 1980. Growing up Garry was very involved in Sunday School, RA’s, youth and missions in his home church, First Baptist New Baltimore, MI. Garry felt God’s calling to preach and pastor early in his teens and preached his first sermon at 17 years old, at his home church in New Baltimore, MI. After graduating high school, he moved to Humboldt, TN to further his education at Union University.
Over the 45 years of his ministry, he served 9 churches in Michigan, Tennessee, and Mississippi. He was pastoring Bethpage Baptist Church in Kenton, TN when the Lord called him home.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Lee Burkacki, of Kenton; brother, Charles Robert (Sandy) Burkacki of Gill, CO; sister, Lisa (Jerome) Howard of Kenton; sister-in-law, Jeannie Burkacki of Elk City, OK; nieces, Shayna Lee Howard of Dyersburg, Kristen Nicole (Cory) Oliver of Helena, AL; great niece, Nora Lee Brock of Dyersburg; and many, many more beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, church family, and friends, who he loved dearly , and who all loved him so dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Anthony Burkacki; mother, Beverly Jean Higgins Burkacki; brother, James Eugene Burkacki; nephew, Eugene Burkacki; and many other precious families, who he has now been reunited with in Heaven.
His wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered in one of his favorite places on earth, Gatlinburg, TN.
There will be a Special Fellowship Service at First Baptist Church, Kenton, on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 5PM-8PM. We would love for all of his brothers and sisters in Christ, and friends to attend for an opportunity to visit with the family and share fond memories of Garry.
There will be a Memorial Worship Service on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11AM to give God glory for all He has done in and through Garry’s anointed, accomplished life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please donate to the rebuilding program of Bethpage Baptist Church, in Kenton.
