Clara Gathings

Mrs. Clara Tennessee Gathings, age 88, of Dyer, Tennessee, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012, at Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. Funeral services for Mrs. Gathings will be held Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Karnes and Son Funeral Home in Dyer. Visitation for Mrs. Gathings will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Dyer. Mrs. Gathings was born November 21, 1924, to the late Earl and Birdie Ottinger. Mrs. Gathings was a housewife and homemaker and member of the New Hope Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gathings was preceded in death by her husband, James Dalton Gathings and a son, William David Gathings. Mrs. Gathings is survived by five children; James Gathings and wife Fay, Joe Gathings, Michael Gathings, Kay Williams and husband Terry, Carol Kail and husband Richard; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
