Brenda T. Sims, 84, of Yorkville passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, at The Waters of Union City nursing home. Born November 11, 1940, in Dyer, TN, to Sylvia Mathis Davis & Judson Thompson. After graduating from Rutherford High School in 1958, she attended business school in Memphis. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Yorkville, where she played piano for many years. Brenda spent her life serving her community with warmth, grace, and an unwavering sense of duty.
Mrs. Brenda, a United States Postal Service employee, was known for her friendly smile and impeccable work ethic. She took immense pride in her role, cherishing the connections she built with colleagues and customers alike. Her 20+ years of service left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Mrs. Brenda will be remembered for her kind heart, her generous spirit, and her ability to make anyone feel at home. She had a passion for baking pies & sourdough bread.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, WT Sims; son, Stan (Malinda) Sims; daughter, Stephanie Rodgers; five grandchildren: Chris (Stephenie) & Alex Sims, Seth, Nate, & Weston Rodgers; seven great-grandchildren, Lucas & Everett Whitaker & Nora Jean Sims, Chasity, Heath, Lincoln & Harlee Sims; two brothers, Charles Davis, Joe (Debbie) Thompson; sister, Pat (Rodney) Wilkinson; and a sister-in-law, Gwen Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Frankie Davis and her stepmother, Jettie Thompson; sister, Betty Hicks; and a brother, Johnny Thompson.
A celebration of Mrs. Brenda’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2PM at Bethel Baptist Church, in Yorkville, TN. Visitation will be also held at the church both Friday, January 17, 2025, from 6PM-8PM, and again, Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1PM-2PM. Officiating the service will be Bro. Billy Criswell and Bro. Craig Peevyhouse. Interment will follow in Mason Hall Cemetery in Mason Hall.
Honoring Mrs. Sims as pallbearers will be Chris Sims, Alex Sims, Seth Rodgers, Nate Rodgers, Weston Rodgers, and Heath Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be Lincoln Sims, Lucas Whitaker, and Everett Whitaker.
Though she is no longer with us, Brenda’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, a testament to a life well-lived and a heart that was always full.
