Mr. Bobby Wayne Taylor was born December 22, 1936, in Obion County, TN; to the late Earley and Layla Evelyn Adams Taylor. A 1957 Kenton High School graduate, he served as Senior Year Class President; Asst. Song Leader; Campus Leader; member of the Annual Staff and was voted Most Versatile, Wittiest, and “Chatterbox’’. After graduation, he proudly served a Tour of Duty in the US Army, where he studied finance & accounting working with the 105th Finance Corp. as bookkeeper for Cash Control Officer of Southern Area Command in Europe.

After serving his country, he traveled for 10 years as a member of a local gospel group, The Gospelaires Quartet; with appearances in Tennessee, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama and Kentucky. Bobby worked as bookkeeper for Farmers Seed Co. in Rutherford for many years; served as “Police and Fire Chief” for the Town of Rutherford; co-found the Tri-Squad Rescue Unit where he proudly served as Secretary and Treasurer; and retired from Gibson County Communications as a 911 dispatcher. After retirement, Bobby enjoyed working in his garden, mowing the yard, making homemade wine, collecting music, photography, and spending time with his family.

Mr. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Bawcom Taylor; son, Timothy Wayne Taylor (Angie); grandson, Zachary Taylor; granddaughter, Kaley Taylor; step-children, Morgan, Hannah, and Jacob Whitworth; sister, Helen VanDyke; niece, Starr Woffard; and nephew, Tracy VanDyke. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two nieces, April Thatcher and Christy VanDyke.

Pallbearers serving are Casey Hall, Scott Carson, Bradley Skinner (In memory of Gene Skinner), Dewayne Coble (In memory of Dale Coble), Brandon Rudd (In memory of Bob and Jack Moore), Tim Johns (In memory of Billy Wade Johns), Ted Baier (In memory of Fred Baier),and Ronnie Mays (In Honor of the Men and Women in Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue and Ambulance on the other end of the radio). Honorary pallbearers serving are Ronney Hall and Glen Carson.

In lieu of flowers, Bobby request donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
