Born in Monroe, NC on May 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Dorothy Cox.
Bobby graduated from the former Charlotte Technical High School. He was a veteran serving with the US Air Force and retired after over 37 years as a mill engraver at Consolidated Engravers.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Rosemary Ramsey Cox; 2 children, Jennifer Cox McElreath and husband, Noel and Jeffery Cox; 6 granddaughters, Stori Cox, Carley Cox, Caroline Cox, Riley McElreath, Reese McElreath and Rowan McElreath; and 3 siblings, Patricia Burns and husband, Chuck, Bill Starnes and wife, Jasmin and Sue Newsome and husband, Jim.
Bobby will forever be remembered as a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather. Nothing pleased him more than to take his granddaughters on a twilight golf cart ride around Ocean Lakes Campground in Myrtle Beach. They would feed the ducks, admire the RVs, and drink a Cherry Coke at the playground. A lifetime resident of the Charlotte area, he loved to spend time with extended family enjoying Saturday supper at local fish camps or attending family gatherings. Ever a tinkerer, he could often be found under the hood of a car or fixing a broken TV to use on the porch.
