Billy Jones, age 93, died Friday night, May 14th at Dyer Nursing and Rehabilitation center.
He was born in Pemiscot County, Missouri, on November 20th, 1927, the son of the late W.S. and Imogene Austin Jones. He attended Haywood County Schools. Billy was the owner of the Dyer Western Auto for 35 years.
Billy was in the Army in World War II spending most of his time in Japan.
He was active in the Babe Ruth Baseball team, serving as treasurer, served on the Industrial Board under David Robinson.
Billy was a member of the Dyer Church of Christ, he enjoyed knocking on doors and inviting people to church; encouraging young people and giving business advice when asked.
Billy is survived by his wife, Eula Heidelberg Jones of Dyer, TN; two sons, Victor Jones, and wife Judy of Rossville, TN; Chris Jones, and wife Lauren of Memphis, TN; two granddaughters, Courtney Esper, and husband Bob of Tullahoma, TN; Michelle Duncan, and husband Steven of Memphis, TN; and two great grandsons, Jack and Ben Esper.
Funeral services will be held May 19th at Karnes and Son Funeral Home with Bro. John Stacy and Bro. Lynn Tharpe officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in Maple Springs Cemetery in Madison County.
