Alice Watson

June 24, 1926 — February 12, 2013

Alice Mozell King Watson 86, of Trenton, Tennessee died at Jackson General Hospital on February 12, 2013. Funeral services will be on Friday, February 15, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Salem Baptist Church in Trenton, Tennessee. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Watson was born in Gibson County, Tennessee on June 24, 1926, the daughter of Tollie Athel King and Celestine Mai Fanning. She married Lyndell Calvin Watson in October 1944. They made their home in the Trenton area. She was a long term member of Salem Baptist Church. Mrs. Watson was a homemaker and Brown Shoe Company employee. After retirement she was an active volunteer in her church, community, and the Dyer Nursing Home. In 2012 she was presented a “Caring for Others” award from Woodmen of the World Lodge 173 for her community involvement for service to others. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband and her son-in-law Michael Harper. She leaves a son, Larry Watson and daughter-in-law, Teresa; and a daughter, Sandra Harper of Trenton. She also leaves five grandchildren, Celeste Harper Poppenheimer and husband, Trey of Germantown; Michelle Harper Thie and husband, Matt of Arlington; Marcie Cotham Denton and husband, Jason of Trenton; Becky Watson Jamison and husband, Ben of Murfreesboro; and Brice Watson of Trenton. Great grandchildren are Harper Poppenheimer; Madden and Cannon Thie; Mason, Parker, and Lane Denton; and Blair Jamison. She also leaves one sister, Ruth Tubbs of Humboldt. Pallbearers will be Trey Poppenheimer, Matt Thie, Ben Jamison, Jason Denton, Mason Denton and Brice Watson. Visitation will be at Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Dyer, Tennessee on February 14 from 5:00 to 8:30 PM and 10:00 to 10:45 at the church the day of the service. The family requests that memorials be to the donor’s charity of choice. Karnes and Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Alice Mozell King Watson
