Alice Mae Laman

Mrs. Alice Mae Humphreys Laman was born on October 29, 1946 to the late Obe & Vera Green of Humboldt.

Alice married Donald Humphreys in 1961. Together, Alice and Donald happily raised their two children until his death in 1989. In May of 1992, Alice remarried Mr. Alton Laman and the two were happily married until her passing on September 25, 2020.

Alice was proceeded in death by her parents, Obe & Vera Green; brother William Green; sister, Reba McKernan; husband Donald Humphreys; and son, Ronald Green Humphreys.

She is survived by her sister, Brenda (Stephen) Shaver; husband Alton Laman (Trenton); daughter, Christy (Mark) Shearon of Locust, NC; daughter-in-law, Gina Humphreys of Toone, TN; grandson, Daniel Humphreys of Toone, TN; granddaughter, Kayla Humphreys (Scott) of Henderson, TN; grandson, Debo Lotti of Toone, TN; grandson, Dylan (Amanda) Shearon of Aurora, CO; granddaughter, Rachel Shearon of Orlando, FL; and two great grandsons, Alexander and Brandon Riddle of Henderson, TN.

Alice was a cook in many local restaurants and was very well known for her southern home cooking. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and maintained a strong faith in God for her entire life. She was very active in both the Girl Scouts and Humboldt Jr/Senior High School Band Parents Association.

Alice was vibrant and full of life and love. She was the life of the party and was always ready to tell stories of her life in a dramatic and humorous way. She loved her family and friends deeply.

For the last several years of her life, she has lived in the Christian Care Center in McKenzie, TN where she made many great friends. The family would like to thank the staff there for caring for her for many years.

She will be missed greatly, but we are comforted by the knowledge that she is in a better place surrounded by loved ones.
